Singheshwar Mela: A Grand Fair for Mahashivratri

The Singheshwar Mela, held at the ancient Singheshwar Sthan temple in Madhepura, is one of the most important fairs in North Bihar. The fair commences on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri and continues for about a month, drawing huge crowds from Bihar and neighboring Nepal.,The primary purpose of the fair is religious. Devotees throng the temple to offer prayers and holy water to the Shivalinga, which is believed to be self-manifested (swayambhu).
