About Buxar

Buxar is a district of great historical and mythological significance, located on the banks of the Ganges. It is famous for the Battle of Buxar (1764).

History

In mythology, it was the ashram of Sage Vishwamitra where Lord Rama killed the demoness Tadka. The Battle of Buxar paved the way for British rule in India.
