Born in Darbhanga, Dr. Manas Bihari Verma was a distinguished scientist who worked closely with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He was instrumental in the design and development of the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). For his contributions to aeronautical science, he was awarded the Padma Shri in 2018.
